The Journal of API
API's membership publication, The Journal of API, is the voice of the organization, educating and supporting parents to make science-based decisions for their families.
The Journal of API is a reflection of API's goal to provide a balanced perspective on a variety of issues encountered by the organization's members. Covering a variety of topics, from secondary attachments to special needs to adoption to newborn care, The Journal of API is members' primary connection to the latest information that API has compiled and created.
The Journal's articles are provided courtesy of leading Attachment Parenting-friendly professionals who specialize in families, children, education, and more, as well as a very dedicated group of mostly volunteer parents who believe in Attachment Parenting and API and want to spread the word. The Journal of API also welcomes submissions from all of its membership, as parents are the true experts in what works (or not) in their families.

- "Jackie's Story" - Kandace Wright describes life with her 11-year-old daughter, Jackie, a child with pervasive development disorder (PDD). PDD is characterized by delays in development of socialization and communication. Kandace writes about the positive impact that Attachment Parenting has made on the relationship between Jackie and her parents, including overcoming one of the greatest challenges: allowing Jackie to be different from other children and celebrating that difference.
- "The Secret Power of Ignorance" and "Kiaya" - In "The Secret Power of Ignorance," Michael Piraino details a life-changing moment for him early in his career advocating for foster children. It was a chance encounter with a small boy who let Michael see the world as only children can. Michael invites us to allow children to teach us what's important in their lives. In "Kiaya", When 11-year-old Kiaya Kathryn Combs was 6 years old, her home situation necessitated that she go to live with a foster family, which eventually adopted her. Kiaya tells of this experience, and her happy ending.
